1. What Image File Formats should be used for web pages, why (how does compression affect loading?)?

The image file formats that should be used for web pages are compressed file formats such as JPEG , PNG, and  GIF. Compression affects the loading by removing excess data information from the file while keeping the size down which will also degrade its quality. But as result web pages are able to load faster and with less bandwidth usage as the images are much smaller size.

2. How do you optimize images for the web?

one can optimize the image by creating a lossy compression format or by keeping the resolution of its dimension smaller. These methods will both methods will keep the size of the file to a minimum.

3. What tricks and tips can you use to make your webpage load faster?

To make your webpage load faster you can also optimize  with video, audio, flash and any other media files. The idea is to keep files the minimum size when presenting it on the web.  It makes it faster if the code itself is also optimized. This includes code to cache and the resources needed to load the page, optimizing how often CSS declarations are made, minimizing page reflow.

8. What are some of the dos and don’ts of web design with media?

Do’s • Keep a structured page • Focus on important information • Make sure it is visually aesthetic • Make sure it is easy to scan through your pages • Keep it simple • Set your navigation up properly

Don’ts • Don’t place boxes everywhere • Don’t over do it with to much colour • Don’t write 1000+ word paragraphs per page • Don’t make it hard for readers to find things • Don’t make everything on your webpage an image

9. What resolution should you design for?

Because computer resolution is varies from computers, creating a website viewable in any browser and at any screen resolution you should: 1. Determine the website’s target audience and their expectations. 2. Decide on a web page width (either fixed of fluid) to suit the target audience’s most common screen resolution. 3. Use only standards compliant valid coding. 4. Test the website in different browsers. 5. Test the website at different screen resolutions.

10.Designing for mobiles? Some tips for creating websites on mobile devices are: • Make sure to reduce the amount of content shown. • Minimize the amount of text used • Using a single column layout works best on mobile devices • Be sure to design for both touchscreen and non-touchscreen users
